The victims were identified by their first names, Lukman and Gideon, though their full identities were withheld pending family notifications. The attack took place at Nalerigu SHS, a boarding school in Nalerigu, North East Region, late on Saturday, July 26, 2025, between 11:00 PM and midnight.

Two male students, Lukman and Gideon, were killed in their dormitory. Their bodies were taken to the Nalerigu Baptist Medical Centre for autopsy and formal identification. Unidentified gunmen broke into the school, targeted the dormitory, and shot the students. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the incident, and no arrests have been reported.
