Authorities suspect the attack may be a retaliatory act linked to an earlier shooting at Bawku Senior High School in the neighboring Upper East Region, where a student, Hakim Kundima, was killed around 8:30 PM the same day. Local sources suggest a connection to ongoing ethnic tensions and the Bawku tribal conflict, though police have not officially confirmed this motive.
