You believe Moses parted the Red Sea, but don't trust the Golden Stool was commanded from the sky? - SDK on Dormahene’s comments
Ghanaian comedian SDK has waded into the heated debate sparked by Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II’s controversial comments about the Asante Golden Stool.
The Dormaahene recently claimed that the sacred stool, historically believed to have been commanded from the skies by Okomfo Anokye in 1700, was never from above but rather “welded somewhere.”
“As for this one, I will say it. If anyone tells you they can summon something to descend from the sky, it’s a lie.
"Didn’t you see when the Golden Stool was recently unveiled? It looked welded,” Dormaahene said.
SDK, known for his sharp humor, wasn’t having it. He questioned the inconsistency in belief systems, writing;
“You believe someone divided the sea into two, you believe someone got pregnant without intercourse, you believe someone called fire from heaven… but it’s Okomfo Anokye bringing a golden stool from the sky that you want to draw the line and call a myth?”
The Golden Stool, also called Sika Dwa Kofi, remains the ultimate symbol of the Ashanti kingdom’s unity and soul, believed to embody the spirit of the Asante people.
