Revealed: Before the accident, Aboagye told us Anala tried landing twice at Obuasi and once at Oforikrom
The helicopter d,isaster in Obuasi on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, has still left many shaken.
Speaking about the incident, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), shared important details in an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM.
According to Mr. Boadi, there were several attempts to land the helicopter safely:
"Samuel Aboagye was speaking with the MCE for Obuasi on the aircraft. He told them to bring his car to the airstrip.
"He later said they could not land there, so they should bring the car to Oforikrom.
"So they made two attempts at the airstrip in Obuasi and one attempt at Oforikrom."
He praised the Adansi Akrofuom District Chief Executive, Mr. Gariba, for his leadership in the rescue efforts to retrieve the victims from the c,rash site.
Importantly, Mr. Boadi urged Ghanaians to show sensitivity and respect to the families affected by the tragedy.
